WINNIE-THE-POOH - 2019, The Alden

All photos by Keelyn Oxley

With the 2018 renovation leaving The Alden with some leftover remediation, “Winnie-the-Pooh” is staged entirely in front of the grand curtain. The pit is turned into a child’s bedroom. The animals’ designs reflect imagery an imaginative child might recognize from real life— Kanga’s maternal pouched apron, Owl’s aviator goggles and riding crop, Eeyore’s depressing gray bathrobe. As(s) an in-joke, when Pooh is stuck in the rabbit hole, the lower half (butt) is played by Eeyore (donkey).
